The new Canon Pixma TS9570 and TS8270 are photo inkjet printers that can print nail art

The Canon Pixma TS9570 is a 3-in-1 photo inkjet printer with a 20-sheet ADF.

In addition to unveiling the local pricing for its EOS R full-frame mirrorless camera, Canon Singapore has also announced two new models in its Pixma photo printer lineup - the TS9570 and TS8270.

Let’s get the basics out of the way first. The Pixma TS9570 is an all-in-one device (print, copy, scan) that prints up to A3 size. It uses five individual color ink cartridges, supports auto duplex printing, has built-in wireless and wired networking support, and features a 4.3-inch touchscreen LCD. It’s also equipped with a 20-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF) at the top to help speed up multi-page copy tasks. Print speeds for the TS9570 are rated at 15 ipm for mono and 10 ipm for color.

The Pixma TS8270, available in black, white, and red, is also a 3-in-1 printer with 15 ipm (B&W) and 10 ipm (color) print speeds. Like the TS9570, it supports auto duplex printing, has built-in wireless connectivity (including the ability to directly connect to a phone wirelessly) and a memory card slot, and plays nice with mobile/cloud printing protocols and services such as Apple AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, and Canon Print Service. However, this is an A4 printer and there’s no ADF. A slightly more home-oriented printer, the TS8270 uses six ink cartridges, and lists a lower up to 100-page recommended monthly print volume than the TS9570 (up to 300 pages).

The TS8270 prints as fast as the TS9570, but doesn't come with an ADF. It too can print nail art.

To encourage customers to print more, Canon has been steadily adding new software features to its printers, like the Message in Print function that debuted last year that lets you embed animated greetings or web links to your photos. This time, the TS9570 and TS8270 are the first printers to get a new trick - the ability to print nail art.

Put simply, Canon has redesigned its printable disc tray to accept the new printable nail stickers that the company is going to sell starting this December. There’s also a new Nail Sticker Creator app, which is where you select the graphics or photos you want to print on the nail stickers and do some basic adjustments. To prevent the colors from running, like all nail art, you’re advised to still apply a top coat on your nails after putting on the stickers. I was told that the stickers will last about five days.

Alongside the Nail Sticker Creator app, Canon has also taken the opportunity to improve a few of its existing apps. The aforementioned Message in Print app now features improved message editing functions, and you can now adjust font color, font size, and word effects. And navigating the Easy-Photo Print Editor app is also easier now thanks to better categorization (photos, calendars, business cards, ID photos, stickers, etc.). On the TS9570 and TS8270, you also get 45 built-in pattern templates that you can use for your scrap booking projects or when you’re printing your own wrapping papers and decorative craft pieces. If you like to print your Instagram photos, Canon will also be selling 3.5-inch by 3.5-inch photo papers in the coming months (the company is already selling them in a 5-inch by 5-inch format).

The Canon Pixma TS9570 and TS8270 photo inkjet printers are now out in stores, priced at S$459 and S$299 respectively. Each printer purchase will also net you a free Klean Kanteen insulated bottle (worth S$56).
