Netgear's new Orbi RBK863SB mesh networking system features a 10Gbps WAN port
Netgear now has a new Orbi mesh networking system called the Orbi RBK863SB. It's closely related to the older Orbi RBK853 but with some notable updates.
The biggest upgrade is the inclusion of a 10Gbps WAN port. This makes it ideal for users who have signed up for fast 10Gbps internet plans – assuming, of course, that you have the necessary supporting hardware.
The other notable upgrade is that it has a new antenna design that Netgear claims will improve Wi-Fi coverage and performance by up to 20%.
Elsewhere, the Orbi RBK863SB is similar to the older Orbi RBK853. It's a tri-band Wi-Fi 6 mesh networking system that has a maximum data transfer rate of up to 6Gbps - 2.4Gbps each on two of its 5GHz networks and 1.2Gbps on its 2.4GHz network. Claimed coverage is up to 8,000 sq. ft. with a single router and two satellites.
The main router has a single 10Gbps WAN port and four Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports while each satellite has four Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports. It's worth noting that neither the router nor the satellites have USB ports.
Availability and pricing
The Netgear Orbi RBK863SB will go on sale at the IT Show which will be happening at Suntec City from 9 to 12 March. It will be priced at S$1,799.
Or if you are feeling lazy and don't feel like you want to deal with crowds, you can also find it on Lazada, Shopee, and on the Netgear Online Store.
