Travel is back and Netgear's new Nighthawk M6 Pro mobile hotspot features mmWave 5G and Wi-Fi 6E
Travel is slowly but surely coming back and a mobile hotspot is surely on the shopping list of many.
Fortunately, Netgear has just announced a new mobile hotspot. It's called the Nighthawk M6 Pro and it's a beast little thing.
The headline features are support for 5G – including the fast but spotty mmWave version – and Wi-Fi 6E. It also has a 2.5Gbps Ethernet jack for wired devices.
Netgear says it can support up to 32 devices simultaneously. Maximum data transfer rates over Wi-Fi 6E with compatible devices is 3.6Gbps.
The Nighthawk M6 Pro measures 10.5cm by 10.5cm and is around 2.15cm thick, so it isn't very big. A 2.8-inch LCD screen makes it easy for users to configure it.
Support for mmWave 5G and Wi-Fi 6E will drain batteries in a hurry, so the Nighthawk M6 Pro features a removable and swappable battery pack. Battery capacity is 5,040mAh which Netgear says is good for 6 hours of YouTube streaming.
Availability and pricing
The Netgear Nighthawk M6 Pro is available now in the US and it's priced at US$459.99 (~S$631.89). No word yet on local availability and pricing but we will update this article once we hear more.
