Netflix has revealed Cowboy Bebop's very funky opening credits

I think it’s time we blow this scene.

Netflix’s TUDUM event saw the debut of the upcoming live-action Cowboy Bebop series' opening credits. The original anime’s composer Yoko Kanno has returned to score this show, which means that we’re basically getting a shot-for-shot remake of the anime’s title sequence.

Watch it below:

The opening sequence will be very familiar to Cowboy Bebop fans, as it's chock-full of callbacks to characters and scenes from the anime. Parts of the title sequence remain the same, while others have been altered or added to in some way. The spirit is still there - jazzy, funky and arguably campier than ever with all the live-action costumes.

Cowboy Bebop follows the adventures of the Bebop’s crew: Spike (John Cho), Jet (Mustafa Shakir), Faye Valentine (Daniella Pineda) and the adorable corgi Ein. We don’t have an official trailer showing off the series’ story just yet, so these opening credits will have to do. If nothing else, the video shows that Netflix is trying its best to stay loyal to the anime’s unique aesthetic.

Cowboy Bebop will hit Netflix on 19 November, 2021.
