NEC has announced that their Cyber Security Factory in Singapore has just started official operations.

The first NEC Cyber Security Factory was established in Japan in 2014. Since then, the company has steadily established more Cyber Security Factories in other parts of the world, with the latest of course being the one in Singapore.

The factories are all tasked in countering cyber threat and attacks, a purview that is similar to Microsoft's Cybercrime Satellite Center. Though both organizations are tackling similar issues, there's no word on if the corporations are working with each other.

On top of threat elimination, the factories also provide a wide range of services, including professional surveillance of networks, investigation of malware sources as well as training IT security staff.

Not content to just start operations, the Cyber Security Factory in Singapore has already embarked on a collaborative effort with the government to shore up the country's cyber defenses. One of their initiatives, the Strategic Attachment and Training (STRAT) program is meant to groom the next generation of local IT cyber security professionals.

With cybercrime on the rise both locally and globally, it's comforting to know that corporations are also stepping up to the plate to counter the threats of the digital age.
