Nearly 7 million Apple Watches estimated to have shipped since launch

Despite arriving a little late in the smartwatch market, Apple continues to dominate the scene with its Apple Watch.

According to analytics firm Canalys, nearly 7 million Apple Watches are estimated to be shipped since its launch in April. To put this number into context, Canalys claims that Apple shipped more than all other vendors' combined shipments over the past five quarters!

Apple is the only company to ship more than 300,000 units in Q3 with Pebble only shipping 200,000 units. As for the basic bands, Fitbit and Xiaomi led the market with the latter exceeding 10 million cumulative shipments in Q3.

Canalys states that this quarter will determine the strength of the smartwatch market and attention is focused on the performance of the Apple Watches. With the release of the gold and rose gold aluminium Watch Sport editions, and the Apple Watch Hermès, Apple is likely to sell even more during the holiday season.
