Grant Imahara, an electrical engineer and roboticist known for co-hosting Mythbusters on the Discovery Channel, has passed away at the age of 49. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he died suddenly after a brain aneurysm.

Grant Imahara joined Mythbusters in its third season. He worked with co-hosts Kari Byron and Tory Belleci to test out and either prove or disprove various myths on the show. Specifically, he designed and built multiple robots for use in experiments, and operated various computers and electronic devices during the show’s run.

The trio left the show in 2014, reuiniting later in 2016 for White Rabbit Project, a Netflix series. Memorably, he also created Geoff Peterson, a robot that acted as Craig Ferguson’s sidekick on The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson.

Discovery shared a statement with The Hollywood Reporter, saying, “We are heartbroken to hear this sad news about Grant. He was an important part of our Discovery family and a really wonderful man. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.”

Former Mythbusters co-hosts have also reacted to this tragic news on Twitter. Kari Byron shared a picture of her, Imahara and Tory Belleci, saying, “Somedays I wish I had a time machine.”

Adam Savage tweeted out, “I’m at a loss. No words. I’ve been part of two big families with Grant Imahara over the last 22 years. Grant was a truly brilliant engineer, artist and performer, but also just such a generous, easygoing, and gentle PERSON. Working with Grant was so much fun. I’ll miss my friend."

Tory Belleci tweeted, “I just cannot believe it. I don’t even know what to say. My heart is broken. Goodbye buddy.”
