MyBusMate App Tracks Real-time School Bus Commutes

Parents and schools can now easily monitor their children's commutes with Singapore's first real-time school bus tracking solution MyBusMate.

A one-stop information hub linking parents, schools, and bus operators, it pinpoints school bus whereabouts to ensure children arrive safely at school and their homes. Parents can track buses through automatic proximity notifications, which significantly reduces waiting time. Parents can also use the app to notify schools and buses of a child on sick leave, whilst buses can notify and explain delayed arrivals to parents and schools.

This safety-first solution also helps bus companies simplify transportation logistics. It allows simple tracking of student attendance, which can be forwarded to schools. Cross-border journeys benefit from faster checkpoint clearances as the app contains the passengers’ information relevant for immigration. To ensure bus drivers’ number one focus remains on the busy streets, MyBusMate operates hands-free.

MyBusMate has three main apps – a parent app, an on-board app and a geo tracker, with state-of-the-art technology integrating all three as a simple tracking solution for parents, schools and bus operators. MyBusMate is compatible with iOS and Android, and can be downloaded from the Apple App Store and Google Play.

The free parent app leverages Google Maps as the basis for its tracking interface. Parents can identify school bus movements along designated routes, receive pre-bus arrival notifications, send and receive messages, and toggle between separate tracking maps for different children.

Bus operators configure their designated routes according to student pick-up locations during the one-time initial set-up. The geo tracker is configured to commence tracking at the start of every journey for real-time location updates. MyBusMate is not dependent on satellite signals, ensuring that buses can be tracked anywhere – even under shelter – as long as the phone has a 3G connection.

Schools not only use MyBusMate’s dashboard to monitor movements of every school bus, but also to review student attendance information and to communicate emergencies or event reminders to parents.

MyBusMate is rolling out to 15 schools in the coming months. Parents keen on implementing the system in their school can get in touch with MyBusMate at info@mybusmate.com.
