In the world of aesthetics, black is probably one of, if not the best general-purpose colour to use for clothes or objects. Not only does it exude a certain degree of class (if worn appropriately, of course), but it also gels reasonably well with pretty much every other colour on a conventional palette.

But what if we wanted to spice up a black object with more black? In that case, MSI's latest collab notebook might provide some much-needed inspiration. Designed in tandem with Fragment Design, the famous streetwear brand directed by the legendary Hiroshi Fujiwara, MSI announced the Creator Z16 Hiroshi Fujiwara Limited Edition laptop at its recent MSIology: Tech Meets Aesthetic event, featuring a black, laser-etched double lightning logo emblazoned on an already-black cover as shown above.

On the outside, the laptop features a CNC-milled unibody with rounded edges, giving off a "deluxe" yet trendy feel similar to what Fragment Design usually embodies in its own products. Internally, you can expect to find a variety of powerful implements as well, including up to an Intel 11th-Gen Core i9 CPU, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 series GPU, a 16:10 Golden Ratio MiniLED backlit AUO powered IPS display that's Calman verified and the AI-powered MSI Center, among numerous others. The one that catches my eye most is without a doubt the 16-inch MiniLED display here - with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels,165Hz refresh rate, 100% DCI-P3 colour space capable and VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certified, this is an amazing display for both creative work and for gaming. Not to mention, it has quad Dynaudio tuned speakers to complement its great visuals.

As for pricing and availability, MSI has yet to reveal specifics about either of them, although what we do know is that a mere 3,000 sets of this special edition laptop will be produced worldwide. Separately, it would appear that this "co-branding train" is steadily gaining traction with notebook brands (especially those from Taiwan), who have linked up with artists, musicians and other trendsetting creatives to help add another layer of "exclusivity" to their products. For example, ASUS ROG previously rolled out its own limited edition Zephyrus laptop designed in collaboration with renowned DJ Alan Walker. Gigabyte, your move?

The MSI Creator Z16 Hiroshi Fujiwara Limited Edition laptop bundle (SKU number- A11UE-226) has dropped at the US MSI Store and XOTIC PC for US$2,699.

The configuration differs slightly from the initial launch information and it is specced as follows:- Intel Core i7-11800H, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 GPU, 16GB DDR4 3200MHz, 1TB NVMe SSD with a limited edition bundle. Every purchase is entitled to a special add-on purchase price of the high-performance value-for-money MSI Clutch GM41lightwight wireless gaming mouse, which we rated highly.

In terms of availability of the notebook in our region, we've yet to get details. What we do know is that out of the worldwide stock of 3,000 units, 500 of them are reserved for the US market and 186 in the UK. That's still plenty to go around elsewhere, so keep your fingers crossed if you're keen on a limited edition statement notebook.
