Motorola fans can look forward to another new phone this year. Over at TechnoBuffalo, an alleged trusted source sent the site an image of what could be the next Z Play smartphone – the Moto Z2 Play.

The leaked Z2 Play image represented the phone with both recycled and new designs. The fingerprint sensor/ Home button is noticeably different (now oblong-shaped, instead of a square), but the new phone retains its massive rear camera bump. This implies that the preceding Moto Mods attachments may be forward-compatible with the new device, but nothing is set in stone until the Z2 Play’s official launch.

The rest of the Z2 Play seems pretty straightforward and familiar – it features the same slim profile (which is likely meant to be used with a Style Shell again), the same 16-pin connecting pins for the Moto Mods. It also comes with the same minor perks (front-facing flash for the camera, and a tactile Lock button below its volume rockers).

A quick glance at the Home screen shows a specific date – 8th June. According to TechnoBuffalo, the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will also be happening in the same week. Sadly, there are no details on the hardware within the new phone, but it's likely that it won't stray beyond mid-range options since the Moto Z Play featured a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 system-on-chip.
