Understandably, one major concern for workers returning to offices is how they can keep their work environment clean.

Short of spraying and wiping everything down, here's a nifty device for your consideration. It's called the Deep Purple.

No relation to the chess-playing supercomputer, Deep Purple is in fact a portable UV sanitiser from Moshi. It folds flat so you can slip it into your bag and carry it from your home to the office and back. And thanks to magnets within, setting the device up takes mere seconds since it snaps into place so easily.

The Deep Purple features what Moshi calls a LumiClear platform for full 360-degree cleaning. In essence, the item you are trying to clean will sit on a clear platform. And thanks to reflective plates within, UV light is being directed all around, so the item gets cleaned in one cycle.

An "effectiveness indicator" turns purple to let you know that the item has been exposed to sufficient UV light for cleaning. A cleaning cycle takes just four minutes.

Deep Purple uses a USB-C connector and can be powered using a typical USB-C power adapter or even with portable batteries packs.

I had the chance to use one for a couple of weeks and I'm impressed with just how easy it is to carry it with you. Folding and setting it up was a cinch and because it's just 2 cm thick when folded, it isn't too bulky to carry around either. It doesn't even seem to require a ton of power because I managed to use it with a 7W power adapter.

My only complaint is that because it has multiple reflective plates within, it can feel a little heavy.

Crucially, the Deep Purple has sufficient depth so you aren't limited to just small items or items that fold flat. I measure it at roughly 4 cm so I could even sanitise stuff like my spectacles, watches, stationery like my stapler, USB flash drives, and even my true wireless earbuds.

Availability and pricing
