More than 70 units of Galaxy Note7 have reportedly exploded in the USA alone
When Samsung halted the global sales of the Galaxy Note7 on 2nd September, the Korean company revealed that it had found 35 cases of battery cell issues worldwide. In less than two weeks, the numbers seem to have almost doubled!
The Canadian government revealed yesterday that more than 70 units of the Galaxy Note7 have caught fire in the U.S alone. Due to the high accident rates, the Canadian government and Samsung have initiated a recall of the devices sold between 19th August and 1st September.
Samsung continues to ensure that consumer safety remains our top priority. We are working with Health Canada and our carrier and retail partners to alert Note7 users of the issue" says Paul Brannen, COO and Executive Vice President, Mobile and Enterprise Solutions, Samsung Canada. "We are asking users to power down their Galaxy Note7s and exchange their devices through the Canadian Product Exchange."
Last Friday, there was a report of an exploding Galaxy Note7 setting a jeep on fire!
Samsung is said to be rolling out a temporary fix in the form of an over-the-air update to all Galaxy Note7 units which may stop the devices from exploding by limiting the maximum charge capacity.
