Montblanc's Timewalker Urban Speed e-Strap is the first wearable from a luxury brand

It has taken some time, but a traditional luxury brand has finally stepped into the wearable technology space. Montblanc has just announced its Timewalker Urban Speed e-Strap, which is really a module that will attach to a watch's strap in a NATO-style.

This module will be compatible with most Android devices running Android 4.3 and above and also Apple's iPhone 4S onwards. It will offer notifications from emails, text messages, social media and calls, and will also act as an activity tracker, capable of tracking the number of steps, calories burnt and distance traveled.

The Timewalker Urban Speed e-Strap has a 0.9-inch OLED display with a display resolution of 128 x 36 pixels. It is made out of rubber-coated stainless steel and will have a battery life of around 5 days. Montblanc will offer it with their special leather strap called "Extreme Montblanc Leather". However, the e-Strap will probably work with any regular strap that is around 20mm to 22mm wide.

It will be offered as an optional accessory alongside Montblanc's new Timewalker Urban Speed watches and will cost around €250. Prices of the Montblanc's Timewalker Urban Speed watches will begin at around €2990, depending on the model and complication.

Montblanc's new Timewalker Urban Speed e-Strap and watches will be officially unveiled later this month at SIHH 2015, a major watch fair held in Geneva, Switzerland.
