Microsoft's dual-screen Surface device could be ready to launch later this year.

Sources familiar with the matter told The Verge that Microsoft recently held an all hands event for its device team where it demonstrated the upcoming dual-screen Surface device alongside other new Surface devices. Microsoft employees reportedly queued to get a closer look at the new Surface devices.

Aside from new Surface hardware, Microsoft is also said to have showcased a working version of xCloud at the internal meeting. More details about xCloud and public trials are expected to be revealed at Microsoft's E3 event this weekend. A prototype version of Microsoft Teams was also demonstrated at the meeting.

Microsoft has been rumored to be working on the dual-screen Surface device and a pocket-sized Surface device for two years. The dual-screen Surface device, codenamed Centaurus, is said to be developed in collaboration with Intel and make use of the 2-in-1 form factor for productivity, inking and other tasks.

The pocket-sized Surface device, known internally as Andromeda, is meant to create "a new and disruptive" device category. It is rumored to have a wraparound display that bridges the gap of the hinge when it's fully opened.
