Microsoft releases Windows 10 IoT Core Insider Preview for Makers

In case you didn’t know, Windows 10 is also for Internet of Things (IoT) devices. If you are part of the Maker community, you can now download Windows 10 IoT Core Insider Preview that includes support for the Raspberry Pi 2 and Intel Minnowboard Max.

In a nutshell, Windows 10 IoT Core is a new Windows 10 edition for low-cost, small devices like the Raspberry Pi 2. Being Windows, it has all the goodness of Windows 10, including the Universal Windows Platform and top-notch developer tools. It will be available ‘free’ for Makers and commercial device builders.

Now, Microsoft warns of rough edges in this first preview, but stresses that it hopes this will be a “conversation-starter” between the company and Makers and device builders. A commercial-quality release is expected this summer.

Also announced today is Windows 10 being the world’s first Arduino-certified OS and Microsoft’s continued collaboration with Hackster.IO. Those interested can hit the source link below for more details.
