Microsoft extends free Windows 10 S to Pro upgrade to March 31, 2018

Last week, Microsoft announced that its Surface Laptop is now available for pre-order or purchase in several more countries.

As it stands, these are the countries that have gotten or are getting Microsoft’s most traditional laptop-like laptop: the U.S., Canada, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherland, Sweden, Switzerland, the U.K., Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Norway, Australia, and New Zealand. In addition, the top-end Surface Laptop with an Intel Core i7 processor (only in platinum color, too) is now available in Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.

Yup, don't bother looking, Singapore isn’t in the list. (Just get the new Surface Pro.)

Also in the announcement is that Microsoft is extending the ability to switch from Windows 10 S (the OS pre-installed on the Surface Laptop) Windows 10 Pro for free until March 31, 2018. The original cutoff date is December 31 this year, but that was given before Microsoft confirmed that the laptop is heading overseas. So to not shortchange its international customers, this extension makes sense.
