Micron Introduces New P400m SSD for Data Center Servers and Storage Platforms

Micron has just announced its new P400m SSDs for enterprise purpose. Unlike most enterprise SSDs which normally make use of SLC NAND memory, the P400m uses MLC NAND and was designed from ground-up for high reliability and endurance.

The new P400m SSDs are rated for 10 drive fills per day for five years and this is achieved using Micron's Micron's Extended Performance and Enhanced Reliability Technology (XPERT), which closely integrates the storage media and controller through highly-optimized firmware algorithms and hardware enhancements. This technology allows the the P400m SSDs to achieve endurance that is comparable to that of SLC NAND SSDs using MLC NAND memory chips and at a fraction of the cost.

The new drives will come in 100GB, 200GB and 400GB capacities and will be offered in the standard 2.5-inch, 7mm form factor.
