It looks like two more automakers will be adding support for Apple's Car Key feature to their cars.

To recap, the Car Key feature was first announced in 2020 as part of iOS 14 and it was designed to let drivers use their iPhone and Apple Watch as an alternative way to unlock and start their cars.

One nifty thing about Car Key is that owners can share their keys with others, so family members or friends can gain access to the car even if the owner is not around and they don't have the car's physical key.

Last month, a developer discovered in code on Apple's servers that suggest Lotus is looking to support Apple's Car Key feature in their cars.

Now, it looks like Mercedes-Benz is joining too, which isn't all that surprising considering that its new E-Class will support the feature. But it now looks like they might be expanding support to more models.

Mercedes-Benz and Lotus will join BMW, BYD, Genesis, Hyundai, and Kia is offering Apple Car Key support.

And before owners of Benzes and Lotuses get too excited, you should know that support will likely only be available to newer models. A quick glance at the list of cars that currently support Apple Car Key shows that they are all at least model year 2021 cars.
