MediaTek unveils the Dimensity 7200 chipset
MediaTek announces the first chipset in the Dimensity 7000 series, the Dimensity 7200.
Built on TSMC's second generation 4nm process, the Dimensity 7200 has an octa-core CPU with two ARM Cortex-A715 cores with speeds of up to 2.8GHz, six Cortex-A510 cores and a ARM Mali-G610 GPU.
The Dimensity 7200 also comes with a built-in AI Processing Unit for AI tasks and AI-fusion processing. In addition, it ships with a 3GPP Release-16 standard Sub-6GHz 5G modem with up to 4.7Gbps downlink, and supports Wi-Fi 6E connectivity and Bluetooth 5.3.
Other specs include AI-based Variable Rate Shading (VRS), CPU and GPU smart resource optimisation for longer battery life and smoother gameplay, support up to 200MP main cameras, 4K HDR video recording, simultaneous capturing of content from two cameras at Full HD resolution, 2CC carrier aggregration and Dual 5G SIM with dual VoNR.
5G devices with the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 are slated to launch in global markets this quarter.
