MediaTek and NVIDIA join forces to develop processors for AI-powered smart vehicles

Computex 2023 is heating up with big announcements right out of the gate.

Today (29 May 2023), MediaTek and NVIDIA jointly announced a new partnership which will see both companies get together to develop AI-powered processors for smart vehicles.

NVIDIA’s announcement said that MediaTek would provide graphics processing unit (GPU) chiplets containing NVIDIA AI and its graphics intellectual property to MediaTek’s automotive system-on-chips (SoCs).

Over at MediaTek’s announcement, the processor manufacturer said its chips for cars would run a host of “smart cabin solutions”, including NVIDIA Drive OS, Drive IX, CUDA, and TensorRT software technologies to provide AI cabin and cockpit functionalities.

Both parties said this partnership would make in-vehicle infotainment options for more automotive makers.
