Maxthon Partners with AMD to Offer Web Browser Optimized for Next Gen APUs

Maxthon has partnered with AMD to release its new Windows-based Maxthon Cloud browser, which is optimized for AMD's next generation of Accelerated Processing Units (APUs). The Maxthon Cloud is a free web browser that is available for Windows and Mac OS. For mobile devices running on Android and iOS, there is Maxthon mobile available as well.

This partnership between Maxthon and AMD means the Windows version of the Maxthon Cloud web browser, with its continual support for HTML5 standards, will leverage on AMD's "Kaveri" APUs for faster image and video processing. In particular, Maxthon Cloud features OpenCL support for HTML5 video post processing. Mr. Karl Mattson, vice president of Maxthon International said that the company believes, in the near future, the television set will be the device of choice for consumers to browse Web content

AMD has already made inroads into the next generation gaming consoles by providing both Sony PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Xbox One, with its customized processors. Perhaps in the near future, we may see AMD next generation APUs powering Smart TVs?
