While Apple is expected to unveil the mixed reality headset next week at WWDC 2023, mass production of the device is slated to start later.

Citing information from the supply chain, Morgan Stanley analyst Erik Woodring claims mass production of the Apple mixed reality headset will not start until October. General availability of the headset is likely to be ahead of the December holiday.

Woodring added that Apple is planning to assemble between 300,000 to 500,000 headsets for 2023. He also estimates the headset to be priced at US$3,000 and the gross margins to be "close to breakeven at first".

Apple's mixed reality headset is said to have a 1.41-inch 4K microLED screen, an external battery pack, USB-C port, several external cameras and sensors to track movements and eyes, a Digital Crown-like scroll wheel, and a chassis made of aluminium, glass and cushions.
