Mass production of Apple's mixed reality headset is said to begin in March 2023 according to DigiTimes.

Supply chain sources say the mixed reality headset will be exclusively built by Pegatron and mass production is expected to start at the end of Q1 2023 with a possible launch in April.

The sources added that the mixed reality headset is positioned for the commercial markets, but shipment is likely to be limited at around 700,000 to 800,000 units. Despite the small orders, Apple's supply chain partners are taking this opportunity to prove their capabilities and reliability with hopes of securing future deals.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo shared in June that Apple will be holding a launch event in January 2023 for the mixed reality headset. Pre-orders should begin in Q2 with retail availability estimated to be before WWDC 2023.
