From Asgard to Tokyo, Marvel Rivals lets you battle with your favourite Marvel heroes & villains

It's been barely two weeks since the announcement of 1943: Rise of Hydra, but Marvel Games is already teasing another game. This time, it's Marvel Rivals, a multiplayer hero shooter developed by NetEase.

This free-to-play PC game is a 6 v 6 multiplayer hero shooter set within the Marvel Universe with players able to take charge of over a dozen superhero characters from Marvel titles such as the Avengers, X-Men, Guardians, and more.

16 characters will be available at launch, including Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Namor, Storm, Magneto, and more. The game will also feature iconic locations from Asgard to Tokyo from Marvel 2099. The locations will also have destructible elements set within them.

At first look, Marvel Rivals looks to be a blend of Valorant and Overwatch 2, but it has added a unique twist to its combat mechanics. Featuring Team-Up Skills, players can utilise various character synergies to create superpowers for tactical advantages. From using Hulk's gamma energy to charge Iron Man’s armour for large damage, to Groot and Rocket Raccoon partnering up for a rain of bullets, there is a wide range of playable characters from across the Marvel Multiverse that players can choose to play and create devastating combos with.

Post-launch, the game will receive ongoing support through seasonal updates, introducing new characters, maps, and fresh strategic possibilities for players to explore.

While a concrete release date has not been set yet, there will be an Alpha playtest, which will commence sometime this May. You can sign up for the playtest here.
