A full moon is on the horizon.

According to a report from the Wrap, Marvel Studios are developing a Halloween special for Disney+. The special would adapt the somewhat obscure comic series Werewolf by Night, a supernatural story that aptly involves people turning into werewolves.

The Wrap states that Marvel is currently casting for the project, looking for a, “Latino male in his 30s to star in the Halloween Special, which is eyeing to begin production in early 2022.” The character description fits Jake Gomez, one of the few characters who have taken on the ‘Werewolf by Night’ title in the comic’s history. Another option is Jack Russell, the first werewolf to bear the title. He got his head blown off by Deadpool at one point, but we’re sure that won’t happen here. Probably.

Given that the project is likely a one-off Halloween special and not an extended series, one should expect Werewolf by Night to grace the streaming service in October 2022. The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is also planned for December 2022, allowing Marvel to cover all the festive bases next year.

Marvel isn’t slowing down with their Disney+ projects. Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, She-Hulk and Secret Invasion will air this year and in 2022. After that, Ironheart, Armour Wars and an untitled Wakanda series are also in development. A series of short films called ‘I Am Groot’ is also in development, following the adventures of Baby Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Currently however, all eyes are on Spider-Man: No Way Home in December.
