M1 Limited has announced the inking of new MoUs with Republic Polytechnic and DigiPen Institute of Technology Singapore to help spur the next generation of gaming talents.

As part of the agreements, the mobile network operator will not only assist in publishing selected students' games for three years on Zolaz, its all-new cloud gaming platform, but also provide internship and final-year project opportunities for them within its own tech departments.

Formalised by M1's Chief Commercial Officer Mr. Mustafa Kapasi, DigiPen Institute of Technology's Chief Operating Officer Mr. Jason Chu, and Republic Polytechnic's Director, School of Technology and the Arts, Ms. Emila Natalaray, the new initiative fundamentally aims to provide more avenues for local talents to shine. In turn, having these games published on Zolaz helps M1 diversify the platform's repertoire of titles over time, making it a win-win for all parties involved.

"The partnerships with DigiPen (Singapore) and RP are a testament to M1’s commitment to shaping the gaming industry in Singapore.", said Mr. Kapasi. "Apart from being a connectivity enabler, we also strive towards being a partner in elevating the gaming community through our technological capabilities and experience. With M1’s True5G network, we are now able to transform the cloud gaming ecosystem, and we look forward to nurturing a new generation of talent in game development by providing the right platform for learning.".

His sentiments were reiterated by the other two representatives. Among other insights, Mr. Chu said he hoped to see the showcased games "bring a smile to the players' faces as a testament to our students' creativity and talents,”, while Ms. Natalaray noted how the partnership would help "equip students with digital technology skill sets that reshape the gaming experience.".

"The combined learning resources, including M1’s digital infrastructure, will further enhance the learning experience and put graduating students in good stead to join the industry as game design professionals,”, she added.
