Time for a refresh

M1 has just streamlined all of its 19 mobile plan offerings into two simple, build-it-yourself mobile plans. There’s the SIM-only plan that starts from $25 per month, and the device, with contract plan that will costs from $30 and onwards per month.

The SIM-only plan has a 30GB data bundle (1,000-min talk time, 1,000 SMS) while the handset base plan has 12GB of data (100-min talk time, 100 SMS). Customers can head to the revamped M1 website to apply and customize their plans by adding more data, voice minutes, SMS, roaming pack and other value-added services.

M1's well known Data Passport roaming add-on is still available for both plan types.

The add-on bundle packs for SIM-only plans start from $10 per month for 10GB of data and 100 minutes. So for a combined total of $35 per month, you will get to enjoy a total of 40GB of data, 1,100 minutes of talk time, and 1,000 SMS. Refer to the image above for more details of the other two add-on packs for SIM-only plans.

For the handset base plan, the cheapest add-on bundle starts from an additional $20 per month for 5GB of data, and 100 minutes of talk time. Therefore, the total cost of handset base plan and cheapest plan add-on bundle is $50 per month; the customer gets a 17GB data bundle, and 200 minutes of talk time. Do note this doesn’t include the cost of the device chosen to be paired with the handset plan. The range of subsidized devices include the latest Apple smartphones to zero-dollar handsets that include the Huawei P30 Lite, Oppo Reno, and iPhone 7 Plus.

You can also choose to incorporate the above-covered add-on bundle packs ($10, $20 or $50) to boost your data and talk time needs further.

Both SIM-only and handset base plans come with the same #BuildYourOne Perks:-

  • Unlimited Weekend Data
  • Free Caller-ID
  • Unlimited free calls to 3 M1 numbers
  • Unlimited music streaming on Spotify
  • Free delivery for online sign-up

The move by the company is part of its revitalization efforts after its acquisition by Keppel Corporation and Singapore Press Holdings. The launch of its new streamlined mobile plans also heralds the start of its transformation journey across all its business segments. Head over to M1 site now for more details.

Will the old plans still be available?

Unfortunately (or fortunately), no. M1 has scrapped all the old plans and will only offer the two new base plans reported here - with device and contract, or the SIM-only base plan. Existing customers who are due to renew their plans or re-contract can only choose the new offerings moving forward.
