M1 and StarHub Announce Mobile Network Upgrades Along Circle Line and North East Line

In response to our query on their 4G coverage in underground MRT stations following SingTel's earlier announcement, M1 and StarHub both issued a statement that they are also enhancing their mobile networks along the North East Line (NEL) and Circle Line (CCL).

M1 states that it has completed 3G radio network enhancement works at all CCL and NEL stations earlier this year. Its mobile subscribers are already enjoying 4G mobile access at many major CCL and NEL stations including Bishan, Bouna Vista, Dhoby Ghaut, Holland Village, Little India, and Serangoon. The 4G network along the remaining stations will be progressively upgraded.

As for StarHub, its 4G service is available at major CCL stations while it has 4G coverage in four stations along the NEL. The four stations are Dhoby Ghaut, HarbourFront, Hougang and Little India.

"We are also enhancing our 3G network coverage at the same time. Though one of the challenges we face is the limited access given by train operators for us to carry out works in MRT tunnels and stations, we are doing our best to speed up network upgrades for our customers", said Mr Lim Eng Huat, Head of Mobile Network Engineering, StarHub
