Intel has officially unveiled the Core Ultra 200V series processors, codenamed Lunar Lake, the company’s most efficient x86 chips to date. These processors were engineered for a significant leap in power efficiency, graphics capabilities, and AI computing. Check out our Lunar Lake first-looks performance feature article for more detailed information.

The processors deliver up to 50% lower package power and feature up to 120 TOPS (tera operations per second) across the CPU, GPU, and NPU (Neural Processing Unit). This results in improved AI capabilities, making these processors ideal for handling AI workloads efficiently without compromising power usage. The fourth-generation NPU is four times more powerful than its predecessor, enabling sustained AI workloads with minimal energy consumption.

The introduction of Intel’s new Xe2 graphics microarchitecture is another highlight of the Core Ultra 200V series. This upgrade provides a 30% boost in mobile graphics performance, making these processors well-suited for gaming and creative tasks. The integrated Intel Arc GPU features up to eight 2nd Gen Xe-cores, enhanced ray tracing units, and support for up to three 4K monitors. Additionally, the GPU includes Intel Xe Matrix Extensions (Intel XMX) AI engines, delivering up to 67 TOPS to accelerate creative applications and gaming performance.

The Intel Core Ultra 200V series processors boasts up to 3X performance per thread and up to 80% peak performance uplift compared to previous generations. Intel also promises up to 20 hours of battery life in typical productivity scenarios.

Most laptops featuring the Core Ultra 200V processors will be part of Intel’s Evo platform as well, co-engineered with partners for exceptional battery life, security and features such as Intel Wi-Fi 7 and Thunderbolt Share support.

Here’s a quick overview of the Core Ultra 200V processor SKUs. Global availability of Core Ultra 200V notebooks is expected from September 2024.
