Samsung is certainly building up a vibrant ecosystem for its Gear S3 as it announces a partnership with Lonely Planet to bring a new travel app and watch faces for its latest smartwatch.

There will be a Lonely Planet smartwatch app for the Gear S3, which will provide access to Lonely Planet's content spanning over 50 cities around the world. Gear S3 users not only get the list of top places based on their location, they also can bookmark or find directions to destinations of interests. The smartwatch app is essentially a companion app for Guides, Lonely Planet's mobile app for travelers. Availability for the Gear S3 Guides by Lonely Planet will begin this month.

Gear S3 users will get four exclusive travel-themed watch faces which have features such as destination details, weather information and a world clock. These watch faces are available for download now in Samsung Galaxy Apps.

The partnership also extends beyond the Gear S3; Lonely Planet will be recording a series of 360-degree videos using the Gear 360 for a marketing campaign. Some of the selected destinations for the 360-degree videos include Urban Exploring in Vancouver and Driving the Icefield Parkway.
