The Linksys Velop MX4200 with be available exclusively from StarHub.

It has taken a while but Linksys' Velop MX4200 mesh networking system is finally available in Singapore.

To recap, the Velop MX4200 is a tri-band AX4200-class router that's positioned as the more affordable alternative to the flagship Velop MX5300.

The two have identical design and size and only differ in performance. The Velop MX4200 features a 1.4GHz quad-core processor and delivers speeds of up to 600Mbps on its 2.4GHz and 1,200Mbps and 2,400Mbps respectively on its two 5GHz networks.

As for ports, the Velop MX4200 has a single USB 3.0, a single Gigabit Ethernet WAN port, and three Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports. For those keeping count, that's one less LAN port than the Velop MX5300.

The Linksys Velop MX4200 will be available exclusively from StarHub as part of their new Smart WiFi Pro offering.

According to Linksys and StarHub, a single Velop MX4200 placed in a central location should be enough for most apartments in Singapore. Users who seek the utmost in performance or who live in larger homes should definitely opt for two or even more to form a mesh network.

Speaking of mesh networks, the Velop MX4200 can also form mesh networks with other routers that support Linksys' Intelligent Mesh technology – like the MR8300.

Additionally, they also said that StarHub owners of the Velop MX4200 can look forward to additional features coming to the router in the near future. These new features are dynamic frequency selection (DFS) and a gaming mode that minimises latency.

The Linksys Velop MX4200 will be available exclusively from StarHub and will be bundled as a free router (U.P. S$399) for anyone subscribing to their 2Gbps Fibre Broadband plans. The plan costs S$62.90 per month.

This offer applies to both new and recontracting customers. These customers will also receive a free 12-month subscription to Disney+

Additional Velop MX4200 routers can be purchased at S$12 per month for 24 months.

Existing StarHub customers who are not eligible for a recontract yet can purchase a single Velop MX4200 for a one-time fee of S$288 or at S$12 per month for 24 months.
