Linksys launched a new multi-device travel companion for 5G and Wi-Fi 6 connectivity on the go - the Linksys 5G and Wi-Fi 6 Mobile Hotspot device.

The device works just like any other pocket Wi-Fi device you’d usually get before heading out for an overseas holiday (remember those?). Linksys’s latest gadget offers compatibility with Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac/ax profiles and 5G n1, n3, n28, n41, and n78 spectrums (n28 and n41 aren’t used in Singapore yet). It’s also compatible with most LTE/4G networks, so it’s really an on-the-go hotspot device for mobile work, and hopefully for leisure in time to come.

As a gadget, the Linksys 5G and Wi-Fi 6 Mobile Hotspot has a 4,000mAh battery capacity and fast charging with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 through its USB-C port. Powering the device’s network access is a Qualcomm X55G 5G Modem-RF and Qualcomm FastConnect 6800. If those components sound familiar to you, that’s because they are responsible for 5G and Wi-Fi 6 connectivity on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset for flagship Android smartphones in 2020. The hotspot device weighs 186g and sits at 140mm tall, smaller than a typical 6-inch smartphone.

“We are excited to be one of the first to launch the Linksys 5G Mobile Hotspot supporting 5G and WiFi 6. 88% of Singaporeans use the internet and spend an average of nearly seven hours online. Connectivity is pivotal for Singaporeans today as demand for high-internet speeds and dependence on devices grow continuously. We are proud that Linksys is able to power consumers’ homes with WiFi and now enable their connectivity on the go, too,” said Jenny Ng, General Manager of Belkin and Linksys in Asia.

The Mobile Hotspot offers maximum 5G download speeds of up to 1.5Gbps. For Wi-Fi, it can go up to 600Mbps on 2.4GHz, and 1,200Mbps on 5GHz bands. It can simultaneously connect with a maximum of 15 Wi-Fi devices, so you don’t have to leave out your laptops, Nintendo Switch, tablets, and phones to have a comprehensive connectivity solution while on the go.

Of course, you’ll need an active SIM card and a roaming/mobile plan to go with the device.
