LG's next flagship phone might not be called the G7
The four-year-old G series brand from LG might be replaced with a new one later this year.
According to The Investor, sources said that LG is planning to re-brand the G smartphone series to better compete against Apple and Samsung. Two of the many options being considered include numbering the phone with a two-digit number and re-branding the phone with a new name.
“Rebranding flagship models is nothing new, and Samsung and Apple have done so for their own flagships,” an LG official told The Investor, adding that the naming of the upcoming LG smartphone has not yet been decided.
LG introduced the G series brand in 2013 with the launch of the G2. Two years later, it launched a new smartphone lineup, the V series and the first model was the V10. LG's next flagship smartphone is expected to be unveiled at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 at the end of February.
