LG V30 to be unveiled at the end of August

The LG V20.

LG's media invite has confirmed an earlier rumor - the V30 will be announced on 31st August, which is one day before IFA 2017 starts.

The invite does not specify any product in particular, but it requests people to "save the date". The image in the invite also suggests that the upcoming V30 will come with a bezel-less design.

The Investor reported in May that LG will start using OLED displays for its smartphones from Q3 2017 and the V30 will be the first device to ship with it. Some of the rumored specs include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 mobile platform, 6GB RAM, and dual front and back cameras. Pre-orders for the V30 should start soon after the event beginning with South Korea, and it could go on sale in September.

An earlier launch of its flagship smartphone models would help LG maintain momentum in the market, especially after its mobile business is estimated to operate at a loss for the 9th straight quarter.
