LG is making a big push into the true wireless earbuds space following the launch of their rather excellent Tone Free HBS-FN7 earlier this year.

Today, LG is launching its 2021 Tone Free FP series earbuds. They are the FP9, FP8, and FP5.

Visually, these three earbuds are almost identical. They also have some shared features such as active noise-cancellation, IPX4 water resistance, three-mic arrays, medical-grade silicone tips, sound tuned by British hi-fi specialists Meridian, and a 3D soundstage feature.

As for UVnano self-cleaning, that will only be available on the higher-end FP8 and FP9 models.

Battery life also differs slightly too. The FP9 and FP8 get up to 10 hours on a single charge and up to 24 hours in total with their charging cases. The FP5 lasts up to 8 hours on a single charge and gets up to 22 hours with its charging case.

Interestingly, only the FP8's charging case supports wireless charging. The FP9, however, has a handy Plug & Wireless mode that LG says solves one of the biggest problems with true wireless earbuds, and that is their inability to be used with a plane's in-flight entertainment. With this, you simply plug it into your seat's USB port and it will start transmitting audio from the system to the earbuds.

Availability and pricing

LG says these earbuds will be available in certain markets starting this month. There's no word yet on local availability and pricing, but we will update this article once we hear more.

I'll leave you with a specs and features table from LG.
