LG teases mid-range smartphones debuting at CES 2017

The upcoming K Series smartphones by LG will be on display at CES 2017. From Left to Right, K10 (rear, front), K8, K4 and K3.

With CES 2017 sneaking up on us, LG decides to tease the masses with their upcoming mid-range mobile devices that will be appearing at the tech trade show. The Korean electronics brand will bring four new K Series mid-range handsets and one stylus-based phone.

 

LG K10.

The LG K10 (2017) is a 5.3-inch smartphone with an HD (1,280 x 720 pixels resolution) In-cell Touch display. The key features are its 5-megapixel front camera with a 120-degree field-of-view, and a 13-megapixel rear camera “employed in LG flagship G series devices”, according to their press release. Other premium-tier features on the LG K10 include a fingerprint scanner, a 2.5D Arc Glass design, and a metallic U-frame for its 7.9mm-thin body. This K10 is different from the LG K10 released in 2016 – the preceding version had an 8-megapixel rear camera and a smaller 2,300mAh battery capacity, among other differences.

The LG K8 is a 5-inch smartphone with an HD (1,280 x 720 pixels resolution) In-cell Touch display. It also packs photography-friendly features for its 5-megapixel front and 13-megapixel rear camera. For example, there’s Auto Shot which takes selfies when the front camera detects a face, and Gesture Shot takes a selfie in response to hand signals from the user.

LG K4 is quite similar to the LG K8, with its 5-inch (854 x 480 pixels resolution) In-cell Touch display, along with Auto Shot and Gesture Shot built into the device. However, it has a slimmer 7.9mm body and both front and rear cameras are rated at 5-megapixels resolution. It also ships with Android 6.0 OS (Marshmallow) out of the box, while the K8 ships with Android 7.0 OS (Nougat).

The last of the K Series smartphones by LG is also their smallest out of the four. LG K3 has a 4.5-inch On-cell Touch display (854 x 480 pixels resolution). It packs a 2-megapixel front camera with Gesture Shot, and a 5-megapixel rear camera. On it, you’ll also find a microSD slot (up to 32GB) alongside its 8GB internal storage, and a removable 2,100mAh battery.

LG Stylus 3.

Besides the K series announcements, there’s also the LG Stylus 3, the third generation, mid-range stylus-based smartphone. This 2017 release will feature a fiber-tip stylus with 1.8mm diameter, in a bid to recreate the feeling a user gets from an actual pen. The phone will also have a fingerprint scanner, an interface that promotes its Pen Pop 2.0 software, on top of its Pen Keeper and Screen-off Memo features that were found in older LG Stylus phones.

Availability and pricing for these new LG phones are not officially released yet, but the phones will be showcased at LG’s CES 2017 booth (Las Vegas Convention Center,  Booth  #11100, Central Hall).
