Google is reportedly sourcing OLED panels from LG even though the LG-made OLED panel in the Pixel 2 XL was plagued with various issues.
According to Korean publication Digital Daily, Google is partnering with LG Display to source a new notched display panel for the Pixel 3 XL. The order volume will "not be much different from the previous one". The report also states that notched OLED panels could cost up to 25% more than conventional OLED.
Purported screen protectors for the upcoming Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL were leaked yesterday. They reveal a notch design for the Pixel 3 XL and slimmer bezels for both phones. Google has confirmed via the developer preview for Android P that it can support display cutouts.
