LG has jumped onto the foldable notebook bandwagon with the Gram Fold. The LG Gram Fold is also the world's first foldable laptop with the latest Intel's 13th Gen chip.
Powering the LG Gram Fold is the 13th generation Intel Core i5-1335U chip. You will also find 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD, and a 72Wh battery. In terms of connectivity, the LG Gram Fold supports Bluetooth 5.1, Wi-Fi 6E, and has two USB-C ports.
The highlight of the LG Gram Fold is no doubt its OLED screen (2560 x 1920 pixels) which stretches to 17 inches when unfolded. When folded in half, it becomes a 12-inch display with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,280 pixels and an aspect ratio of 3:2.
LG says the bottom half of the screen can turn into a virtual keyboard when folded, or have a Bluetooth keyboard placed over it for a more conventional laptop experience. Due to its foldable screen, the LG Gram Fold can be used as a portable monitor, e-reader, or tablet that supports touch and pen inputs.
The hinge area of the LG Gram Fold is tested to last up to 30,000 times, which is equivalent to about 20 folds a day for four years. Other specs include a 1.25kg chassis, a Full-HD webcam with Windows Hello facial recognition, and an included 65W power adapter.
With these high-end specs, it is no wonder that the LG Gram Fold is priced at a whopping 4.99 million won (~S$5,091).
Its price tag is comparable to the ASUS ZenBook 17 Fold OLED, which went on sale in Singapore in October 2022 for S$5,499. The LG Gram Fold will be sold in limited quantities in Korea, and there is no word on its international availability.
