Leica and Panasonic sign agreement to jointly develop L² Technology products
Leica and Panasonic announced that they have signed a strategic comprehensive collaboration agreement where they will jointly develop new technologies and solutions under the name of L² Technology.
L² Technology symbolically uses the L from Leica and Lumix. The collaboration will see both companies leverage their respective strengths; Leica's optical and imaging technology with Panasonic's video and digital technology.
New technologies and solutions under the name of L² Technology will include camera and lens products, and will be integrated into Leica and Lumix products.
Leica and Panasonic have cooperated since August 2000. Both companies signed a cooperation agreement for lenses of digital, audio-visual equipment, which later expanded into the digital camera sector in 2001. In 2018, both companies worked with Sigma to form the "L-Mount Alliance".
