Leaked screenshot suggests Android P having iPhone X-like gestures

Earlier this year, Bloomberg reported that Google will revamp the Android interface and copy the "notch" design of the iPhone X. Well, we now have a first look at a key navigation feature that Google is testing on Android P.

The above screenshot was accidentally posted by Google on the Android Developers Blog. Shortly after the mistake was realized, Google apparently edited the screenshot to crop out the navigation bar. As you can see, the new navigation bar does not have the multitasking button anymore and the center home button is replaced by a smaller, pill-shaped icon.

According to 9to5Google's source, this is the new navigation bar design and has similar gestures to the iPhone X. A swipe up gesture wil reveal the multitasking UI on Android P while the back button will auto-hide when not in use. The back button will only appear in situations when it is needed as seen in the above screenshot where a dialogue box can be dismissed.

Since Google is testing the feature, it may or may not appear in the final version of Android P. Do expect to hear more about Android P at Google's I/O developer conference next month.
