Kronicles Offers Revolutionary On-site & Off-site Backup to SMBs

Kronicles has launched a game-changing Backup as a Service (BaaS) solution.

Allowing SMBs to enjoy reliable and secure off-site data protection, which was earlier available only on enterprise-class offerings costing several times more, the solution is the first in the region to provide a fully managed and monitored backup service featuring both on-site and off-site backup, via a dedicated link, for an affordable monthly fee. There is no upfront investment for SMBs to make, nor are there staff and maintenance costs.

In Singapore, the Kronicles BaaS solutions start from a Gold package that includes 200GB to 1TB of data backup, support for three to 10 Windows servers, up to 30-day history, for an affordable S$5,000 a month. Tax rebates are available until 2015 to help defray the costs for Singapore-based corporations using innovative technologies.

Enterprise-class reliability and fast recovery now possible for SMBs with subscription-based backup offering

SINGAPORE – Singapore-based enterprise data management provider Kronicles (Asia) has launched a game-changing Backup as a Service (BaaS) solution that enables small and medium businesses (SMBs) to enjoy reliable, fast recovery and secured off-site data protection previously available only on enterprise-class offerings costing several times more.

The solution is the first in the region to provide a fully managed and monitored backup service featuring both on-site and off-site backup, via a dedicated link, for an affordable monthly fee. There is no upfront investment for SMBs to make, nor are there staff and maintenance costs.

Other offerings in the market typically provide on-site backup via a network storage device, which can be damaged in, say, a flood or fire, or remote backup over the cloud, which can mean long recovery times over a slow Internet connection.

And while some enterprise solutions promise both on-site and off-site backup, they often require customers to buy expensive equipment that cost tens of thousands of dollars or more. Kronicles’ answer is to provide the best of both on-site and off-site backup solutions – without any upfront costs.

Kronicles’ Backup as a Service (BaaS) is based on proven enterprise-grade technology as well as reliability delivered through an intelligent, round the clock, end-to-end system monitoring and management system.

In the customer’s office, a POD (Periphery Onsite Device) transparently backs up data from a customer’s e-mail and application servers, for example, and keeps it for up to 30 days. Using a local network, the POD can back up and recover files without requiring a slower Internet connection.

Each day, in the off-hours, the data is copied over a dedicated link to Kronicles’ secure data facility for off-site protection. This means that the regular Internet link used by staff is not affected by the backup, while ensuring fast and secure backups.

At the end of each month, Kronicles also provides a copy of the data on a fast and high-capacity, industry standard LTO tape, which can be returned to the user or stored at a secure third party location that can be returned on demand.

This means that there is a local copy of data for everyday operations, one stored on Kronicles’ cloud for business continuity and beyond that, a copy on tape for long-term archival. Whether the scenario is at a manufacturing plant where a staff has accidentally overwritten the production schedule, or at a construction firm looking up its previous tax returns to bolster its standing in a tender bid, the necessary data can be called up to ensure the business processes are executed smoothly.

A leading edge provider of enterprise data management solutions in Asia, Kronicles addresses the growing challenges in data storage and recovery in five countries: Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia.

Kronicles partners include StarHub, Quantum and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
