Korean firm sues Apple and Samsung for patent infringement
Korean patent venture firm FirstFace has filed patent infringement lawsuits against Apple and Samsung in the U.S.
According to Business Korea, the patent infringement lawsuit targets an invention that simultaneously recognizes fingerprints while turning on the displays of smartphones. FirstFace reportedly approached Apple to negotiate a licensing deal for the invention, but the iPhone maker rejected the offer.
FirstFace apparently has several patents related to unlocking technologies based on face recognition, iris recognition and fingerprint-based user identification in Korea, U.S, China, Europe and Japan. This means that almost all of Apple and Samsung devices are subjected to the current or future patent infringement lawsuits by FirstFace.
