Klipsch launches new wireless speakers for desktops – the ProMedia 2.1BT

Klipsch launched the ProMedia 2.1BT in Singapore last week. This is a wireless speaker setup for desktops and laptops, designed with the bookshelf form factor while boasting a host of audio features that cater to productivity users and gamers.

The Klipsch ProMedia 2.1BT, as its name implies, features Bluetooth wireless connectivity, and a 2.1 speaker setup; two satellite speakers with 3-inch midbass drivers (long-throw, fiber-composite, cone-shaped woofers), supported by a 6.5-inch side-firing, ported subwoofer unit. The ProMedia 2.1BT uses Klipsch’s proprietary MicroTractrix horns – a miniature version of the acoustic horn design that’s built into nearly all Klipsch’s audio products.

Besides its built-in Bluetooth connectivity for smartphone and tablet-streaming, the ProMedia 2.1BT also has an input port (3.5mm) and a headphone output port on the sides of the satellite speaker. Klipsch does require the user to wire up the satellite speakers to the larger subwoofer unit, so the wireless capabilities don’t apply to the actual setup itself. There are also hardwired, independent volume controls for the speakers and subwoofer unit built onto the setup as volume knobs.

The desktop speakers currently retail at S$399, and you can learn more about them here.
