The current situation with the world has made me obsessed with keyboards. I figured since I'll be working from home for the foreseeable future and that I'll be spending even more time at my desk since there's nowhere to go, I should try and find the best keyboard that I can. After all, I already found what I think is the perfect mouse.

That search led me to the Keychron K8.

Keychron has been around for awhile and they shot to fame with their K2 keyboard. A compact 75% wireless mechanical keyboard that ticks a lot of boxes for a lot of people.

Now, they are expanding on their lineup of keyboards with the K8. The K8 is largely similar to the K2 but with a number of notable differences.

It has a TKL form factor so it's larger. But perhaps more importantly, it has hot-swappable key switches. This means, if a switch ever dies on you, you can easily replace them. More importantly for enthusiasts, it also means that if you are unsatisfied with the stock switches or if you are feeling curious about some new exotic switch, you can change them.

The K8 will be offered with Gateron Red, Blue, and Brown switches. And it will also be offered in a number be variants, with white or RGB backlights, PBT or ABS keycaps, and in a plastic or aluminium frame.

Mac users will also be happy to know that the K8 is Mac-compatible out of the box and the keyboard will come with Mac-specific keycaps.

No word yet on availability and pricing but Keychron did say they will put it up on Kickstarter sometime in early June.
