Given how often we use external drives to transport data between work and home, the release of the Kingston IronKey Vault Privacy 80 External SSD is very handy indeed.

Think of it…

An external drive that comes with its own encryption key.

It is Kingston’s first OS-independent external SSD with touchscreen and hardware encryption for data protection. If you’ve used a keypad to unlock a smartphone, you can use the IronKey Vault Privacy 80.

It protects against Brute Force attacks by crypto-erasing the drive if the Admin and User passwords are entered incorrectly 15 times in a row by default. The drive is also FIPS 197 certified with XTS-AES 256-bit encryption using a Common Criteria EAL5+ (CC EAL5+) certified secure microprocessor and is TAA compliant.

Admins can set numeric PIN or Passphrase modes, set Configurable Password Rules, or enable extended security options like a maximum number of shared password attempts, minimum password length of 6-64 characters, alphanumeric password rules, auto-timeout to lock drive, randomize touch-screen layout and Secure-Erase to ensure maximum protection of important files.

Even better for peace of mind, the Admin can use his password to restore data and access if the User password is forgotten.

With military-grade security measures, it is safer than Cloud storage services for securing company data, information, documents, images, and videos.

It comes bundled with two USB 3.2 Gen 1 adaptor cables, USB Type-C®2 to Type-A and Type-C to Type-C, to allow for easy connection to computers and other devices.

The Kingston IronKey Vault Privacy 80 External SSD is available in 480GB, 960GB, and 1920GB capacities that come priced at S$590, S$700, and S$980 respectively. They also come backed by a limited three-year warranty and free technical support.
