Kawaii! Brother launches special edition Hello Kitty electronic labeler

Are you a hobbyist or an enthusiast of artisanal handicraft who happens to be a fan of Hello Kitty as well? If so, get ready for this: Brother International Singapore has just added to its P-touch series a Hello Kitty-themed electronic labeler.

Encased in a red and white chassis, with big red hot keys that make the labeler easy to use even for kids, the S$88 PT-D200KT comes with 97 frames built in, of which 22 are Hello Kitty ones. And out of a total of 651 symbols, 34 are Hello Kitty related. Drawing power from either an AC adapter or six AAA batteries, the labeler uses Brother’s TZe print engine, which gives it a very decent print speed of 20mm per second.

Of course, any frequent labeler user will tell you that graphics is only half the story. The other is tape support. The PT-D200KT supports up to 12mm-wide (2 lines) Brother TZe laminated tapes; and out the box, it’ll come with a TZe-HW31 laminated starter tape cartridge (4 meters) pre-designed with Hello Kitty symbols and a black ink ribbon.

Two electronic labelers for the office

Business customers, don’t frown. Brother has also launched two new labelers meant for filing, cabinet tagging, and asset management purposes.

For high-volume users, there’s the PT-D600, which has a full-color LCD display. This allows you to easily and clearly see what you’ve designed before printing the label. Touting an interface friendly enough that you don’t need to read the manual to use it, the PT-D600 has a large keyboard for you to type on, and is even able to automatically detect the type of tapes installed.

With a print speed of 30mm per second, the PT-D600 prints on up to 24mm TZe laminated tapes with up to 7 lines of text. It comes with 14 fonts, 99 frames, and over 600 symbols, and has an automatic label cutter that the PT-D200KT lacks.

The S$238 PT-D600 also connects to Windows and Mac OS X systems over a USB cable, allowing you to use the free P-touch Editor Label Design software. You can use it to create high-res labels (up to 180 x 360dpi), choose from an extensive library of templates, and create custom labels using the fonts, symbols, and graphics that are on your computers.

If you don’t need the color display or don’t need to print on 24mm tapes, there’s the S$158 PT-D450, which has a monochrome backlit display and prints up to 18mm TZe laminated tapes. This affordable office electronic labeler also sports a wide keyboard and built-in label designs for common labeling applications.
