Jawbone's Up2 and Up3 activity trackers get firmware updates with new features, will also come in more colors

Good news! Owners of Jawbone's Up2 and Up3 activity trackers will get a firmware update that will add new features for their activity trackers.

The firmware update, which should be available now, will add Passive Heart Rate tracking to the Up3 activity tracker. This combines with Up3's existing Resting Heart Rate data to provide a more complete picture of your health. As its name suggest, Passive Heart Rate captures your heart rate during periods where you are inactive. It can help you become more aware of how stimuli like caffeine and stress can affect your life.

The other new feature is Automatic Sleep Detection, and this will be available on both the Up2 and Up3. With this, users no longer need to put their trackers into sleep mode every night before heading to bed, as it can automatically detect when you are sleeping or awake.

Users can update their tracker's firmware by using the Up app on their mobile devices.

Finally, the Up2 will be available in a new color called Violet Circle; while the Up3 will be get new colors such as Indigo Twist, Ruby Cross and Sand Twist.

There's also a new and improved strap design for the UP2 bands consisting of lightweight thin straps with the colors Oat Spectrum, Gunmetal Hex, Orchid Circle and Black Diamond.
