Japanese university to ban the use of watches at its entrance exams from 2016
The proliferation of smartwatches has forced a university in Japan to impose a ban on all watches during its entrance exams.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Kyoto University is possibly the first national university in Japan to ban the use of all watches at entrance exams. The university reportedly told the publication that it is getting very difficult to determine whether students are using the watches to communicate or calculate figures. Beginning from next year, the ban will be implemented to "conduct a fair test".
Other universities around the world also implemented similar bans such as The University of New South Wales. In Singapore, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) does not allow students to bring smartwatches into the examination hall.
