As of today (5 April 2021), LG's mobile business unit is no more. That means that there'll be no more new LG smartphones for the foreseeable future, and the rumoured LG smartphone that was meant to succeed the LG V60 ThinQ will now never see the light of day.

According to its official statement, existing LG smartphones will still continue to sell, with service and software support to carry on depending on the region of sale.

LG will also be using its smartphone expertise and freed resources in other electronic ventures, such as electric vehicle components, connected devices, smart homes, robotics, artificial intelligence and business-to-business solutions, as well as platforms and services.

The closure of its smartphone business is set for completion by 31 July 2021.

The last major smartphone launch that LG did was for the LG Wing (pictured above), which had a secondary swivelling display for additional information and functionalities. LG has not officially brought a smartphone to Singapore since the LG V40 ThinQ.
