It costs Google more to put its search engine on Samsung than on Apple devices

One day after Google reportedly paid $3 billion to remain the default search engine on the iPhone, Korean publication JoongAng Ilbo came up with its own estimates for a licensing deal with Samsung.

According to the publication's estimates, Google could pay up to $3.5 billion for its licensing payment contract with Samsung this year. The licensing revenue for Samsung has increased over the years thanks to stellar sales of its smartphones.

Since Samsung is the top smartphone maker, it makes sense for Google to spend more since it is likely to generate more search and advertising revenue on the Samsung's Galaxy devices.
